Collaborative network

Much of our work is embedded in long-term collaborations with researchers and institutions in movement ecology, flyway ecology, conservation demography, disease ecology and animal-borne monitoring. This section highlights key collaborators whose work is closely connected to current group projects and co-supervised PhD research.

Long-term collaborator

Theunis Piersma

University of Groningen / BirdEyes / NIOZ

Long-standing collaborator, mentor and intellectual partner in flyway ecology, shorebird demography and conservation research. His work has strongly shaped the scientific foundation of our research direction, especially the integration of individual birds, migratory systems, environmental change and conservation. Current collaborations include Waakvogels, black-tailed godwit and bar-tailed godwit research, and co-supervised PhD projects.

Long-term collaborator

Judy Shamoun-Baranes
